NEWS, VIEWS & TRUTHS (29TH SEP – 2ND OCT)

Published on: October 2, 2020

Hello everyone once again; I hope you have all had a wonderfully productive week and are looking forward to the weekend ahead.  That being so, welcome to this week’s News, Views and Truths.

This week’s edition is a tad different.  Convention demands that, during October, Three Counties hosts its annual client day.  This offers up the opportunity to get together with our clients, enjoy some food, conversation and outline our thoughts on the year.  Furthermore, tradition has it that we host guest speakers, covering topics pertinent to the current time.

We genuinely look forward to these events every year, and for the past few we have held these at Beamish Hall.  However, due to the backdrop of the global pandemic, this year we are having to think differently.

Therefore, we are announcing our first digital client day, being held online on October 22nd.

Invites are currently being sent to all clients, both electronically and physically and once again, in time-honoured fashion, we have a range of speakers for the event.

Kicking it off, we have Julian Cook from T Rowe Price.  Regular watchers of the “When Andrew Met…” video series will have listened to Julian before – for those who have not, you can see the interviews here and here.  With markets being driven by the return from the US and the impending Presidential elections, Julian will outline how T Rowe Price have been managing assets and their views on the world’s largest economy.

We will also have an update on the shape of the industry from the Greaves West and Ayre partnership and how the businesses across the group have remained in a strong position in these most challenging of times.

And finally, me.  I will be updating everyone on the performance of the portfolios during 2020 and what has driven the returns.  I will outline our house view on the markets into 2021 and how we are preparing for these conditions, with the ultimate aim of maximising capital growth for each given level of risk.

If you wish to attend (and frankly, why would you not want to?), please confirm your attendance by Friday 9th October. You can RSVP to Wilma Watson on 0191 230 3034 or wilma.watson@three-counties.co.uk

This week’s podcast can be found here as usual and this week’s special guest is once again, Rob Powell, Head of Thematic and Sector Product Strategy at Blackrock.  This week we talk about global decarbonisation and the investment opportunities within clean energy.

That is it for another week.  Stay safe, stay dry (there is a storm coming and it looks like it’s going to be wet) and I shall see you all next week.
